Jenny Hval

Since 2004, Jenny Hval have been active as a composer, musician, artist and writer in Norway, working between pop music, spoken word and sound art. She has released three albums as a solo artist, the most recent release (”Viscera”, Rune Grammofon 2011) receiving glowing reviews internationally.

Hval studied Creative Arts and Literature in Melbourne and Oslo. In her work, she borrows from both poetry and contemporary culture, improvising with language as music. She has composed and recorded music and sound pieces for performance, ballet, and exhibitions as well as for music and poetry festivals.

Also a writer, her essays, poems and lyrics have been published in journals and anthologies, and in 2009 she published the novel ”Perlebryggeriet”
