Barry Guy

Born London 22 April 1947; Bass, composer.

One of the premier bass players in free improvisation who has consistently and
considerably extended the range of the instruments. Has really to be seen in
person to appreciate the visual spectacle associated with producing the music
and also to better understand some of the sound production methods. Has long-term
experience both in this field and in baroque music. Formed London Jazz Composers'
Orchestra who celebrate their 25th anniversary with concerts in a range of countries
during 1995. Part of Parker/Guy/Lytton trio as well as recording extensively
in an extremely wide number of situations. Barry Guy also runs Maya Records.
