Ingebrigt Håker Flaten
Ingebrigt Håker Flaten (1971)- born in Oppdal, Norway - living in Austin, Texas
Ingebrigt studied Jazz at the Music Conservatory in Trondheim, Norway (1992-1995) under the tutelage of bass player Odd Magne Gridseth. A professional musician since 1995, he has established himself as one of the strongest voices on bass in jazz and improvised music on the international circuit today. His work with his own projects, as well as with The Thing, Atomic, Free Fall, Scorch, and in duo formats with Joe McPhee, Evan Parker and Håkon Kornstad have put him at the center of a large pool of improvisers with strikingly different modes of operation. Flaten has also left his indelible mark in collaborative projects with musicians from the undergrounds of New York, Chicago and Texas.
Prolific and inventive, Ingebrigt has put his personal mark on more than 100 albums.
